Specdrum equally have a long history of providing Drive and Tail Drums for Fixed Plant Operations and Overland Conveyors.
Often these are One-Off Projects which require unique Specifications, dimensions and tolerances to be achieved in order to ensure maximum up time for operations.
Consultative Process
- We discuss with our customers your Drum specifications and compare to our manufacturing capability and capacity
- Internally we Technically Review all the Drawings supplied.
- During this meeting Specdrum involves its highly skilled Team of Purchasers, Engineers, Quality Personnel, Production Management and Packaging and Logistics experts.
- We understand that the Drum must be manufactured to the Specification exactly as stated.
- Drums for project work that will be installed in Fixed Plant, often have more complicated design and heavier materials in the final product.
- This requires more consideration before entering production from a performance and lifetime of operation perspective.
Oven Heat Treatment:
- Pipe and End Plates can be Heated in Autoclave Oven to a stated Temperature and then the temperature is reduced to a normal level.
- This Heat Treatment helps to remove the natural built-in stresses into formed metals and welded points.
Non-Destructive Testing:
- Specdrum provide all the Services required this is Specified in a Customer RFQ.
- For Large Overland Conveyors Drums – Non-Destructive Testing can be specified by the Engineers.
- This is a process of working to eliminate future problems in an operating environment that can be extremely harsh.
Dye Penetrant Testing: Can locate weld surface-breaking defects in.
Magnetic Particle Testing: Uses magnetic fields to detect surface and subsurface defects in ferromagnetic materials.
Ultrasonic Testing: Uses high-frequency sound waves to detect defects in the Steel chosen for the project.
Radiographic Testing: Uses X-rays or gamma rays to create an image of the material’s internal structure. X-rays work best for thinner materials, while gamma rays are better for thicker materials.
C5 Marine Spec Paint Process
Industrial locations with high humidity and/or aggressive atmospheres. The are parts of the planet with almost permanent condensation, frost, high temperatures and/or high pollution.
Specdrum have the painting capability and trained personnel to provide this painting specification and the recorded records in reports.
Sea Worthy Packaging
Large Project Work – when manufacturing Conveyor Drums, may need to be transported to far away locations, for the final build into the Belt Conveyor and then be constructed and fixed into the Ground at it’s final geographic location.
Long Distance travel for a Drum means it must be highly protected, while in transport, from harsh weather elements. If the Drums are being transported on a Container and then onto a Ship, protection form Sea salt water is vital to prevent rusting and oxidisation.
Specdrum understand how important it is to package Drums which will be transported in Sea Water Environments – over long distances and which may also remain in storage for some time – often outside, before their final build into the Conveyor.
In such instances we will:
- Build the Drums into a Strong Wooden Crate – with Timber Certified for Export
- Seal the Inside Walls of the Wooden Crate with Triple Strength Bubble Foil
- Steel-Frame Pallet Base for ease of lifting with fork-lift when required
- Sealed with a Foil and Timber Top and packaged with Accurate Delivery Details sealed to Timber wall
