Testimonials

At SpecDrum, we offer many students and graduates the chance to work along side and learn from our experienced staff.

Below you can read about the experiences of some of the recent students and graduates to work with us:

Liam Armstrong (Graduate Engineer, Fusion)

Coming to SpecDrum Engineering as a graduate engineer has allowed me to complete the transfer from student to professional engineer.

The guidance and support of the existing workforce here has been of priceless value to me throughout each project which I have undertaken. The engineering and market knowledge that has been accumulated through the years is apparent on every level within the organisation.

Due to the faith shown in me through the level of responsibility placed upon myself, I have noticed a marked improvement in my own personal development. The range of focused work I have undertaken means two days are rarely the same within my role.

SpecDrum has allowed me to take the knowledge I have acquired and apply it to practical situations. This all stems from the ethos of constant improvement which exists here within SpecDrum. As a young engineer I can only be grateful for the opportunity I was afforded to work in the hub of the engineering sector.

The base of knowledge and experience I will gather through my time here will be of substantial benefit where ever I find myself in the future.

Holly Archer (Placement Student)

I am an Environmental Health student at University of Ulster – Jordanstown. My course has a great deal of involvement in the area of Health and Safety so I felt I would benefit and be a suitable candidate for a placement within the local Engineering sector.

I approached SpecDrum Engineering in November 2014 and was delighted to be offered an initial 6 month placement, with possibility of extending to 12 months.

I started my work placement with SpecDrum Engineering in May 2015 and found myself really enjoying my work and learning a lot. My position as an IMS Assistant gave me a great deal of experience in all areas of Health, Safety & the Environment and Integrated Management Systems. I was involved in areas such as COSHH, Preventative Maintenance for machinery, PPC Permit, Record keeping, Auditing, Risk Assessment, Training, Machine operation, Company Safety protocol, PPE and much more. In October 2015 I was overjoyed to be told my placement would be extended to 12 months.

I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to work in such a busy manufacturing and engineering company. I have learned so many valuable skills and knowledge I would not have learned solely from University. I feel my confidence has grown vastly with the help, training and support from my colleagues in SpecDrum. I cannot thank them enough for their guidance and feel I will be much better equipped for returning to final year in University and in my future career path.

I enjoyed my time at SpecDrum so much I wish to pursue a career within the Engineering Sector. I want to personally thank Dermot, Martin, Roisin and David for giving me the chance to prove myself and hope I have been a help for the business in my time here.
